An unprecedented abuse of power

April 30, 2013

In an unprecedented abuse of power, politicians in Colorado are presently meeting to silence you and millions more law-abiding gun-rights supporters. Their clear goal is to shut down Rocky Mountain Gun Owners once and for all.

In what can only be described as a kangaroo court proceeding in the Colorado legislature, anti-gun politicians are in the process of sanctioning and silencing a private citizen whose only offense is steadfastly defending the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution.

As you will see, their ultimate goal is to close you off from the political process and bankrupt Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, eliminating the most effective gun-rights group in Colorado history.

So before you read any further, I hope you will click on this link I asked my staff to give me and make a personal gift — a sacrifice — to defeat them today.

Because if we lose… it could be the last political battle we are able to fight.

My friend, this is happening right now. Let me give you the facts:

RMGO knows the most effective means of pressuring weak-kneed politicians is by contacting their constituents and having them directly lobby their so-called “representatives.”

That’s exactly what we did with a certain Colorado GOP “representative” named Cheri Gerou. However, Gerou didn’t like hearing from her pro-gun constituents on gun-rights issues and she EXPOLODED with a public temper tantrum.

On February 15th, “Representative” Gerou initiated a public and violent altercation with gun rights supporter and RMGO staffer Joe Neville.

With the height of arrogance, “Representative” Gerou summoned Mr. Neville to her, confronted him violently, verbally assaulted him — saying F**K YOU — multiple times, and physically intimidated and assaulted him by poking him in the chest multiple times.

And when Mr. Neville very calmly replied by suggesting to the “representative” that he believed RMGO would notify her constituents of her behavior, she EXPOLODED AGAIN, summoned the Sergeant of Arms and demanded the gun-rights defender be kicked out of the State Capitol.

Then in a clear effort to turn the tables after her despicable behavior, “Representative” Gerou scurried to the anti-gun, Democratic Speaker of the House and filed an official complaint against Mr. Neville.

That’s right, despite her role as the instigator, aggressor, and arguably criminal actor in this encounter, Rep. Gerou had the arrogance to file a complaint against Mr. Neville and demand that he be “investigated.”

Those are the facts.

However, I can’t begin to tell you how bad it will be if we lose this fight…

1) Mr. Neville and others could be banned from the State Capitol, eliminating their rights to lobby their representatives.

2) All real, pro-gun dissent could be muted at the State Capitol.

3) Lawyer fees could bankrupt Rocky Mountain Gun Owners – preventing RMGO from contacting you regarding the actions of anti-gun politicians like Representative Cheri Gerou.

4) A loud, chilling message will be sent to gun-rights supporters across the country — standing up for your God-given right to own a gun will come at a political and financial cost.

You see, if the anti-gun politicians are successful in silencing the pro-gun community in Colorado, it will send chilling shock waves through the pro-gun community not only in the Rocky Mountains, but across the country.

Anti-gun politicians are making a clear statement: if you stand up for your 2nd amendment rights you will be harassed, cursed at, charged with a crime, called before an anti-gun tribunal, ridiculed publicly in the press and ultimately have sanctions imposed by an anti-gun legislative body.

That’s why I’m asking you to make a special – but immediate – contribution to Rocky Mountain Gun Owners today. The stakes are so high.

My friend, I’ve spent my entire life fighting for gun rights. I have stood toe-to-toe with Dianne Feinstein fighting the so-called “assault-weapons” ban. I led the charge against former Colorado Governor Bill Owens when he supported gun control legislation in Colorado. I have been under fire, testifying in front of hundreds of legislators across the county defending your 2nd Amendment rights to “keep and bear arms.”

Today, it seems like I’m fighting them all at the same time and more.

And while I will never give up the fight for the 2nd Amendment… I can’t continue to fight without your immediate help.

So before you finish this email, please click on this link and make an immediate personal gift to help defend gun rights today.

Your donation of $100, $50, or even $30 – or whatever you can afford – will help us battle this onslaught.

My friend, as I wrote above… we are in trouble.

I have never written a more personal note for help before and I don’t know that I ever will again. And I hope after reading my email you will decide to join me in fighting back by going to this link and making the most generous contribution you can afford.

I’m going to fight back with — or without — your help. The only question is: will I have the necessary resources to fight and win or will we be run over by the anti-gun mobs that clearly have the system rigged in their favor?

It’s up to you.

Please send help if you can.

Very Sincerely Yours,

Dudley Brown
Executive Director

P.S. Anti-gun forces and politicians around the country are trying to muzzle gun rights activists with threats of intimidation, personal attacks and even hauling us up on trumped-up “ethics” charges.

If we let them get away with it, there will literally be nothing stopping them from destroying our Second Amendment rights. ~snip~

Alright folks, the battle lines are drawn. Are we a Constitutional Republic or a utilitarian one size fits all democracy where the majority always rules? Where the political correctness of the day rules. Think about it people. There was a time when women could not vote. When only land owning white males could vote, own land, or (sickeningly) other humans. When weapons were denied based upon race, gender, or religion.

Think about it; Most of the real problems in our society are directly associated with the heavy hand of government at some point in our history. Be that local, County, State, or on the Federal level. On the about me / opening page of this blog I said that Liberty and Freedom most often provide solutions. Government most often only causes problems. I am a philosophical LIBERTARIAN and that will never change! Nothing has changed at all to alter that position.

I am a MARINE CORP BRAT! Figure out the consequences.

In closing I have one thing to say;

Come and kill me. Today is a good day to die.

A conspiracy theory for the ages: A grain of truth may have sewn the seeds…

April 2, 2013

Conspiracy theorists in America today have become so plentiful as to become laughable. A theory has been postulated concerning practically every major event on the planet, complete with alleged “proof” that supposedly not only vindicates the theory but legitimizes the theorist.

Regular readers of this column over the past four years since it was launched will note that the writer rarely buys into such theories and has, in fact, warned about the danger inherent in these theories and the people who devise them. This column, for example, took great pains to provide detailed evidence that disproved the numerous theories about the Bilderberg group, the Rothschilds, and other powerful, secretive organizations. They do not pose the threat that many assume.

In delving into Bilderberg and the Rothschilds, however, it was discovered that there is one powerful group of movers and shakers that has the gravitas and the means to exert an enormous amount of influence on the U.S. government and other nations. It is called the Council on Foreign Relations, or CFR.

And this leads directly to the point concerning conspiracies and conspiracy theorists. Usually there is a modicum of truth tucked somewhere deeply within the sensationalism and fluff that accompanies wild, unsubstantiated charges.

Some of the theories being postulated are not only true but alarmingly so. But in order to get to that truth, one must sift through a mountain of bilge to find it.

In the 1991 book titled, “Behold A Pale Horse,” conspiracy theorist Milton William Cooper makes a number of outrageous claims that go far beyond the realm of veracity. He claims, for example, that former President Dwight D. Eisenhower attempted to negotiate a treaty with outer space aliens in order to prevent them from destroying the Earth. He believed that these outer space beings had infiltrated the government. He also believed that AIDS/HIV was part of a conspiracy to decrease the population of blacks, Hispanics, and homosexuals.

Very few thinking persons would take these outlandish theories seriously. Yet within Cooper’s nightmarish fantasies he either inadvertently or deliberately inserted a conspiracy theory that has all of the markings of literal truth. In such an instance, the conspiracy is not a theory but an actuality.

Within the pages of “Behold a Pale Horse,” Cooper charges that certain sectors of the U.S. government initiated a covert operation decades ago designed to gradually turn the population against the private ownership of firearms. In order to accomplish such a feat, the government set about on a deliberate course of action that would insure that deadly, military grade firearms would make it into the hands of dangerous criminals. This would send the crime rate skyrocketing, the result of which fearful citizens would demand gun control and gun bans.

From the book, Cooper writes,

The government encouraged the manufacture and importation of military firearms for the criminals to use. This is intended to foster a feeling of insecurity, which would lead the American people to voluntarily disarm themselves by passing laws against firearms. Using drugs and hypnosis on mental patients in a process called Orion, the CIA inculcated the desire in these people to open fire on schoolyards and thus inflame the anti-gun lobby. This plan is well under way, and so far it is working perfectly. The middle class is begging the government to do away with the 2nd Amendment.

A glaring problem is obvious in Cooper’s statement, however. No credible proof or evidence can be found that confirms the charge that the CIA is using or has used drugs and hypnosis on mental patients. And a thorough examination of the Orion project makes it clear that there is no consensus as to what, exactly, that program entails, if it does, in fact, exist. Some theorists define Orion as something totally different than Cooper’s definition.

Yet within Cooper’s theory, apart from the over-the-top allegations, is one central truth — the U.S. government has, indeed, provided military grade firearms to some of the most dangerous criminals in the world, including those who are living here among us. The Fast and Furious scandal proved beyond any doubt that such a systematic program existed and may still be at work to this day since Congressional investigations went nowhere due to stonewalling and the refusal to cooperate on the part of Senate Democrats and the White House.

Not only were 2,500 heavy duty, high capacity firearms sent across the Mexican border directly to dangerous drug cartels, but according to the Justice Department cartel drug gangs now operate in all 50 states, particularly in large cities such as Chicago, which has become the murder capital of America.

Chicago has the most stringent gun control laws in the nation, yet the violence continues to escalate. And despite the attempts of anti-gun activists such as Barack Obama and his longtime friend, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, to blame the violence on average gun owners, statistics from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) show that most of Chicago’s “gun violence” emanates from Mexican drug gangs.

In addition, something is pushing the severely mentally impaired over the edge that was not present in American society 30 years ago. Before the 1990s one rarely heard of mass shootings at schools, churches, movie theaters, and malls.

Even without drugs and hypnosis, there are ways that unstable persons can be pushed over the edge into committing unspeakable acts of violence. Society itself is at least 80 percent of the problem. America has forsaken its religious heritage that served as a restraint on the actions of individuals. Ethics and morals have been thrown out the window. A special report on CBS’s “48 Hours,” for example, noted how the United States has become a nation of liars. Hundreds of teachers in Atlanta, for example, were caught allegedly changing scores on standardized tests in order to make their schools look better on the national grid. A school in Texas was highlighted for the fact that not only did 25% of its sophomore class cheat on a key exam but the teacher who caught them was overruled by the school board for giving them failing grades on the exam.

Cheating was rewarded.

Hollywood is also a key example of the problem. Actors, writers, directors, and producers go public with their righteous indignation concerning the fact that citizens can own guns, although they themselves glorify violence in their movies and are flanked by armed bodyguards when they venture out. The emotionally fragile are bound to be greatly influenced by what Hollywood produces, in addition to the shockingly violent video games to which the nation’s youth seem to be addicted.

But the net result is the same even if Cooper was wrong about the drugs and hypnosis. Something is leading the weakest among us to go on shooting sprees.

Each time these horrific incidents take place, a few more Americans jump aboard the gun control and gun ban train. And the gullible fall for the shameful blood dance conducted by leftwing lunatics who are always standing at the ready to blame average citizens for what a few criminals do.

How many more of these shocking bloodbaths must take place before the gun-grabbing lunatics succeed in leading the populace to demand the Second Amendment be scrapped?

When a citizenry is disarmed, history teaches us that they are sitting ducks for oppressive, tyrannical government. Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, Communist China, Castro’s Cuba, North Korea, and host of other governments proved that disarmament of the citizens was a mere precursor for the atrocities that would follow.

Those who point to Europe as an example that disproves that assertion must be reminded that not enough time has elapsed since they criminalized gun owners. Give them time. Eventually they will prove everything gun rights activists warn about.

Ever heard of Cyprus?

The outright theft of the people’s money by government is merely the beginning of woes.

A nation founded by geniuses but run by idiots

Stolen from the one and only Texas Fred!

TexasFred

A nation founded by geniuses but run by idiots

So, in the spirit of *fair and balanced* here is a list of the biggest IDIOT IDEAS we have from elected officials today. And make NO mistake, there are IDIOTS on BOTH sides of the aisle and in ALL branches of U.S. government!

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book, but not to vote for who runs the government¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the government wants to ban stable law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a heap is only subject to having her neck and head searched¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is cute, but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested homes you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the governments plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of Unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor buys iPhones, TVs and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you safer according to the government¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

What a country!!!!

I received this via email, I have NO idea who wrote it or I would offer a huge KUDOS and linked citation. In any case, this is as true as anything we have seen on the ‘net.

Thanks to politicians who claim to be pro-gun…

June 5, 2012

Constitutional Carry has won broad support from freedom-loving gun owners nationwide.

No citizen should have to beg the government for a permit before he or she can exercise their Constitutional right to bear arms.

Simply put, Constitutional Carry is true Right to Carry legislation. It’s the law in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming.

In 2011, the National Association for Gun Rights played a key role in passing Constitutional Carry in Wyoming. Citizens there may now exercise their God-given right to self-defense without restriction.

Constitutional Carry also passed both the State House and Senate in Montana with NAGR’s backing during the 2011 session, only to be vetoed by Montana’s NRA “A”-rated Governor Brian Schweitzer.

Unfortunately, this pattern of opposition from the institutional gun lobby and the politicians they support was replayed in multiple states throughout the 2012 Legislative season.

The National Association for Gun Rights with allied state-level gun rights groups and pro-gun forces nationwide introduced Constitutional Carry bills in 22 states this year.

Predictably, the left-leaning media and the anti-gun crowd immediately began predicting blood in the streets.

In reality, crime rates have only gone down in Constitutional Carry states.

Vermont is virtually surrounded by higher-crime states like New York and Massachusetts, yet Vermont’s crime rate has remained among the lowest in the nation for decades. Violent crime has also gone down in Alaska and Arizona since Constitutional Carry became law.

In the face of these facts, it is strange to see anti-gun politicians oppose Constitutional Carry with conjured images of Wild West shootouts.

But stranger still is the fact that NRA “A”-rated politicians in numerous states and even an NRA Board Member have joined the anti-gun crowd in opposing the Right to Carry.

In Iowa, NAGR’s boots-on-the-ground ally Iowa Gun Owners (IGO) introduced the bill in 2011 and came within 2 votes of passing it.

This year, NAGR and IGO led a strong fight, but the bill was killed thanks largely to the outrageous efforts of NRA Board Member and Iowa State Representative Clel Baudler.

NAGR ally South Dakota Gun Owners also provided vigorous grassroots support for their Constitutional Carry bill in South Dakota. Sponsored by pro-gun champion Rep. Don Kopp, the bill was stonewalled by the Legislative Leadership in the State House.

Rather than support the Right to Carry, South Dakota Speaker of the House Val Rausch and Speaker Pro Tem Brian Gosch cooked up a substitute bill.

Hailed as “Constitutional Carry” by numerous NRA “A”-rated and endorsed politicians, this bill would have encouraged police to harass and detain law-abiding gun owners for nothing more than possessing a legal handgun!

With NAGR’s assistance, Iowa Gun Owners and South Dakota Gun Owners are now working to hold accountable the anti-gun state legislators who opposed Constitutional Carry.

In Georgia, NAGR and Georgia Gun Owners introduced Constitutional Carry and immediately found strong support from gun owners.

But once again, NRA “A”-rated State Representative Ann Purcell blocked the bill. As chairwoman of the Public Safety Committee, Rep. Purcell refused even to allow a vote.

Thanks in part to the outcry raised by Georgia Gun Owners against her anti-gun obstructionism, Rep. Purcell has chosen not to seek reelection this year.

There are similar stories from all across the country.

NAGR has also focused resources on Tennesee, South Carolina, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Oklahoma, and is monitoring the battles in Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Rhode Island and Maine.

Thanks to politicians who claim to be pro-gun and to the political cover provided to them by the leaders of the institutional gun lobby, the battle for Constitutional Carry is over for this year in most of these states.

But no one expects to pass Constitutional Carry without a fight.

The National Association for Gun Rights is standing firm for true Right-to-Carry legislation.

By providing resources, support and direct assistance to dozens of pro-gun state-level allies, NAGR is working to hold accountable the politicians who opposed Constitutional Carry, regardless of the ratings they have received from the institutional gun lobby.

And Constitutional Carry will be back in the very next Legislative season.

For Freedom,

Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President

P.S. The National Association for Gun Rights is supported only through the generous contributions of members and supporters like you.

Please consider chipping in $10 or $20 to help NAGR take the fight to the gun-grabbers nationwide.

Only in America

May 22, 2012

1. Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 a plate campaign fund raising event.

2. Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when we have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black. 12% of the population is black.

3. Only in America could we have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

4. Only in America can we have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

5. Only in America would we make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just become American citizens.

6. Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution be thought of as “extremists.”

7. Only in America could you need to present a driver’s license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

8. Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

9. Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a trillion dollars more than it has per year for total spending of $7 million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn’t have nearly enough money.

10. Only in America could the rich people who pay 86% of all income taxes be accused of not paying their “fair share” by people who don’t pay any income taxes at all.

So, what do we actually have to do to get America back on the *straight and narrow* my friends?

You can’t say that we didn’t warn you Colorado!

April 9, 2012

(Denver) – Recently, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board of Directors decided to refer a hybrid request to the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), to approve a revised plan to implement the FasTracks project. Included in this plan is a 100% increase in the RTD sales tax, dedicated to completing the FasTracks project.

A local citizens group, ‘Truth About Transportation‘ (TAT), has studied the promises made by RTD in 2004 versus what RTD will actually deliver.

You can read the details of the entire 2004 FasTracks plan from RTD here.

Those promises included:

  • A 12 year completion plan. (2017) to complete the project
  • At a cost of $4.7 billion
  • Provided by a 0.4% sales tax
  • New and expanded rapid transit in nine major travel corridors, funding over 119 miles of light rail and commuter rail
  • And a plethora of other promises made and not kept

Truth About Transportation is a citizens group that opposes any further tax increase to fund the FasTracks project, beyond the 0.4% sales tax that voters approved in 2004. TAT believes that RTD should be held accountable to voters to deliver what was promised in 2004.

TAT will be highlighting this lack of accountability and failure to deliver, over the next several months.

For more information you can contact Ken Katt at 303.338.9149. You can visit the TAT web site at TATColorado.com or email us at kennethkatt@aol.com.

Constitutional Carry update: Republicans are pro gun..?

March 17, 2012

Constitutional Carry is the basic principle that if you are legally eligible to purchase a firearm, you should be able to carry that weapon, concealed, for self-defense without government permission.

Passage of Constitutional Carry does not abolish existing permit systems, or their corresponding reciprocity agreements. It merely provides law-abiding citizens with an alternative avenue for armed self-defense.

Passing Constitutional Carry in state legislatures across the country is a key goal of the National Association for Gun Rights’ State Legislative program. The National Association for Gun Rights’ activists successfully passed Constitutional Carry in Wyoming in 2011.

Constitutional Carry is law in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming.

  • Colorado: Two Constitutional Carry bills have been introduced, one in each chamber. SB-25 (Neville) has been procedurally killed in committee. HB-1092 (Priola) was on third reading but they sent it back to Judiciary to clear up a language dispute.
  • Georgia: HB-679 (Spencer) is in Public Safety & Homeland Security. It was heard on February 13th, but the committee’s chair, Republican Ann Purcell, refused to allow an up or down vote. Georgia’s important “crossover” deadline has since passed, but there is still time to add it as an amendment to another gun bill.
  • Iowa: Working with our ally Iowa Gun Owners, two Constitutional Carry bills have been introduced in Iowa (HF-291 and HF-2113). They are in the Public Safety Committee. Again, Republican leadership has blocked the vote in effort to quietly kill both bills, but pressure to revisit this legislation is mounting.
  • Kentucky: HB 280 (Harmon) is in the House Judiciary Committee.
  • New Hampshire: Working with our ally New Hampshire Firearms Coalition (NHFC), HB-536 (Hoell) passed the House and received a favorable hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is the second year in a row that it has passed. However, anti-gun Republican leadership is trying to kill it behind the scenes. NAGR and NHFC have worked hard to expose the anti-gun backroom dealings.
  • Maine: Two 2011-12 bills were killed by leadership.
  • Mississippi: HB 596 (Formby) was introduced this past month; however it contains some bad language that needs to be amended out.
  • Montana: In 2011, NRA “A-Rated” rated Governor Brian Schweitzer vetoed Constitutional Carry. Montana does not hold a legislative session in 2012. NAGR is continuing to work in Montana to see that this becomes the standard in all areas of the state next year.
  • Ohio: HB 256 (Adams) is the 2011-12 bill. It is in the State Government & Elections committee.
  • Oklahoma: There are dozens of gun bills floating around the capitol this year. While most of have an emphasis on open carry, one proposed floor amendment from last March (FA-7 by Derby) to HB-1796 (Tibbs) came close to doing away with the permit requirement.
  • Rhode Island: S 2133 (Picard) is in Senate Judiciary.
  • South Carolina: The concept was introduced earlier in the 2011-12 session, but didn’t make it far before the anti-gunners stalled it and watered it down. NAGR members in the Palmetto state are working to get a recorded vote on Constitutional Carry in the South Carolina Legislature.
  • South Dakota: NRA “A-Rated” Republican leadership violated the state constitution to prevent HB 1015 (Kopp) from receiving a floor vote. They substituted it with language that at best still requires a permit in the form of your driver’s license and still mandates ALL the requirements including a background check. South Dakota Gun Owners and NAGR will continue to work toward a real Constitutional Carry law in the future.
  • Tennessee: Several Constitutional Carry bills have been introduced in the last two years including SB 397, which awaits a hearing in the Judiciary Committee. On February 2, companion legislation was introduced in the Tennessee State House — HB 3818.
  • Virginia: HB 139 by Delegate Cole was left in committee after crossover without being continued. Cole was unwilling to respond to the demands of NAGR members to file a discharge petition to bring Constitutional Carry to the House floor. NAGR will be working with our allies on the ground in Virginia to find a more courageous sponsor to bring this to the floor going forward.
  • Wisconsin: Last year, Wisconsin became the 49th state to recognize concealed carry in SB 93 (Galloway). The bill originally began as a Constitutional Carry bill.
  • Elsewhere: 2011-12 Constitutional Carry bills were considered in Nevada, Idaho, Indiana, Oregon, Utah, and West Virginia. However, those initiatives failed to become law.

This brings the total to 26 states that have, are considering, or have considered Constitutional Carry during this legislative cycle.

Sort of a new category at CLO, sort of…

March 13, 2012

I’m going to start posting more often about products or services, and inviting guest posters / authors. Reviews of products such as IWB Holsters, pistols and other firearms. If you would like to submit an article just post a comment to that effect. Your email address will show up to me, and I will get into contact with you.  Spam will not be accepted period. legitimate endorsements will be. Training courses, and your post course evaluations will, I hope, be a biggy! We all know about Gunsite, and Front Sight, and we all know that there are often financial and or travel barriers to getting into those courses. Not to mention barriers to the individual person that wants or needs training. The last that I read, the Constititution didn’t say anything at all about a protected class of Americans. As in “This class is for active and reserve military; or Law Enforcement personnel only.” Beware of those that only want you, the private citizen, to be able to only sort of protect yourself.

This new page / category will also address such things as Bachelor cooking. How to actually sharpen that knife, or, straight razor. Making a firing pin for a 22 rim-fire from a piece of coat-hanger, or a tooth pick from the same, or even a chicken bone! I’d really like an expert to submit postings about herbal medicines that are available here in the back woods of America. While I do know some about the subject for some reason I believe that my readers would like to know more than save the charcoal from the bowl that you made in case of food poisoning, or that Cattail fuzz can make a very good wound dressing, or tampon! (The last is something that I was told, and I certainly cannot verify it as true!)

Hopefully, this new series will be a reference for all, and others will contribute. I still have to establish some ground rules but most Outdoors folks are pretty good about things like that. First job will be to name the category.

Oh, and let’s try and keep politics out of it. Sure, a link will be alright. As will link backs and trackbacks.

NAGR’s 2012 Executive Summary: New Threats

January 31, 2012

Here is NAGR’s 2012 Executive Summary:

*** Hillary’s UN Gun Ban AND the Obama administration’s Election-Year gun control push:

Hillary Clinton and the United Nations are putting the finishing touches on their “Small Arms Treaty” this summer, and President Obama is ready to push a new “Assault Weapons Ban,” a Magazine Ban and Bloomberg’s “Catch All Gun Control Scheme” in order to win left-wing support.

*** Dozens of CRUCIAL U.S. House and Senate races, with our gun rights hanging in the balance:

Holding the politicians accountable has NEVER been more important.  Not only must we defend true gun rights heroes like Congressman Paul Broun through our Political Action Committee, we also have the opportunity to hold accountable long-standing anti-gun Republicans like Senators Dick Lugar and Orrin Hatch.

*** Leading the fight for REAL Right-to-Carry in states all across the nation:

After passing Constitutional Carry in Wyoming in 2011, NAGR has a tremendous opportunity to move forward with this vital legislation in up to a dozen more states.  If we are successful in raising the resources, this could result in a rout of the gun-grabbers unlike anything seen in decades.

Your generous support will help pay for direct mail and online alerts to help turn up the heat on politicians.
